Since the release of Spore, the internet has seen over 30 million player-created items. Soon, players will be able to further expand their creativity and gaming experience.
Electronic Arts (EA) announced today that starting today, players' Spore main accounts will support multiple Spore nicknames, allowing for boundless creativity. In addition, development plans for the "Space" expansion and the Spore Thriller & Cartoon Material Pack were also announced today. These additional contents will allow the renowned video game Spore to continue to grow and evolve.
Lucy, General Manager of Maxis Studio… Lucy Bradshaw stated, "Many players requested more building tools, and others wanted to expand their gaming experience. After completing *Spore*, we immediately began creating more content to cater to individual player tastes. The space setting of *Spore* gives us endless possibilities to continue refining and evolving the player experience."
The expansion pack, scheduled for release in Spring 2009, will allow players to experience a deeper "space" phase of the game. For the first time, players with space travel capabilities will be able to leave their spaceships, freely explore new planets, and complete various rewarding challenges. A new "Adventure Creator" will allow players to create and share their original missions online, resulting in virtually endless gameplay content.
Starting today, the Spore main account supports multiple nicknames, allowing players to set multiple Spore nicknames under one main account. This is the first phase of implementing this feature; the official team will integrate it more fully with the game to enhance its functionality. All nicknames use the same main account, and anyone with the main account password can delete or add nicknames, or change the account password. Players should be careful when sharing a main account with others; deleting a set of nicknames will delete all creations, achievements, and Spore podcasts associated with that nickname.
The Spore Horror & Cartoon Material Pack, launching globally on November 18, 2008, offers over 100 new creature building blocks, divided into two themes—charming cartoon creatures and terrifying monster creatures. The package includes body parts, coloring options, animations, backgrounds, and more. The Spore Horror & Cartoon Pack allows users of Spore or the retail version of Spore Creator to give their creatures unprecedented and drastically different personalities.
